Introducing our cosy Scandanavian inspired wooden River Cabins at Zwakalala River Retreat. Nestled in the heart of nature, our 5 River Cabins offer a cosy and relaxing stay, featuring natural wood, large windows for breathtaking views, modern amenities, indoor fireplace, outdoor bath and wrap around deck overlooking the river. We offer four two sleeper cabins and one four sleeper, all walking distance from the river and hiking trails.
Relax on your private deck, immerse yourself in the surrounding wilderness, and experience the tranquility of the Zwakala River.
The River Cabins
Our five river cabins are tucked right on the water’s edge, each one a blend of modern Scandinavian style and cozy, lived-in charm. With big windows, clean lines, and warm textures, they’re the perfect place to disconnect, and reconnect with yourself and nature.
Four of the cabins are open-plan studios, perfect for couples or solo stays, while the fifth is a four-sleeper with its own little indoor kitchen—great for families or close friends. Every cabin has a fully equipped kitchen, a braai area, a dreamy outdoor bath under the stars, and a fireplace to gather around when the air turns crisp.

The Nōka Suite
Perched right on the edge of the river, Nōka Suite is our beautiful honeymoon hideaway — a private little sanctuary made for slowing down, reconnecting and completely disappearing into nature.
Designed with romance and deep rest in mind, the suite has a luxurious king-sized bed and a beautiful cedar-wood shower space that gives the whole bathroom the feeling of your own private spa. Step outside and you’ll find an outdoor shower surrounded by nature, as well as a gorgeous outdoor bath where you can soak while listening to the river flowing below.
The large private deck looks out over the river and forest and has its own braai area, making it the perfect place for slow mornings, long lunches, sunset drinks and evenings under the stars.
One of the most magical parts of Nōka is your own private pathway leading down through the trees to a secluded little bathing pool in the river — your very own place to swim, cool off and spend the day beside the water.
While Nōka is our dream honeymoon suite, it’s just as special for a romantic weekend away, an anniversary, a solo retreat or simply a few quiet days to yourself. It’s a space to rest deeply, reconnect and experience the wild beauty of Zwakala in complete privacy.
